Fire guts INEC data centre in Kano

A section of the State Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Kano has been gutted by fire in an early morning fire outbreak. The incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi. “Even though no life was lost but the inferno destroyed the ICT office and a block in the administrative office of the commission,” he said. He noted that the fire was tamed by the quick intervention of the State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service as well as the Airport Fire Service.

According to the Director-General, National Pension Commission, Aisha Umar, most federal government workers that retired from March 2020 to March 2021 have not been paid their pensions. According to an update released by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, 54.5 percent of the eligible persons representing 1,096,727 individuals targeted with the Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine have been administered their first dose as of Sunday, April 18, 2021. A breakdown of the update contained in an Electronic Management of Immunisation Data, EMID, System, showed that  Lagos remains ahead in the exercise with 203,697 persons vaccinated. Mobile policeman reportedly commits suicide in Aba

An Inspector of Police attached to the popular Osisioma Mobile Police Force Unit (Mopol 55) Ochofie Ijimbile has committed suicide by shooting him self to death. According to reports not yet confirmed, he shot himself in the chest in barracks. There were unconfirmed reports the deceased policeman, who was a security man at a hotel, decided to take his life because he could not repay a particular debt. Public Relations Officer of the Abia Command Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed Ijimbile’s death. Stating that he did not commit suicide, that the rifle went off while servicing it.
