Former two-time House of Representatives member, Hon. Sunday Karimi has urged the Minister of Work, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, to call to order the contractors handing the repairs of Gwagalada- Lokoja road.
According to Karimi “Commuters traveling on that road have been facing hardship in the last three months , where a journey that normally takes two hours sometimes last for 14 hours because of negligence on the part of the Contractors and lack of effective supervision on the part of the ministry.”
“Some of the repairs causing traffic jams should have been handled swiftly and mostly at night, but they are lazily pretending to be working, but stagnant for lack of effective planning, thereby causing untold hardship for the people plying the road. Some even lost their lives due to unnecessary accidents”.
“During this festive period, the Minister need to move swiftly to avoid the ugly experiences of the last few months. The major problems are on the Gwagalada and Lokoja end, where reconstruction work has been ongoing for months, without good progress”.
